Esports Case Study

Esports Overview

After providing creative production strategy and execution on over 500 broadcast spots for Blizzard/Activision in 2015 and 2016 as well as producing and directing of over 100 hours of live broadcast for the 2016-18 Hearthstone tournaments and a high-end documentary series and broadcast commercial spots for The Overwatch World Cup, the Overwatch League, and The Call of Duty League Paragon has more holistic esports experience than any other independent production agency out there. It’s that experience that gives you superior creative power over content, and furthers transparency into production.

Luminosity Gaming | LEGO® Technic First Class

A 5 x 22 minute esports competition series featuring contestants all over the US and Canada fighting for a coveted spot in the Luminosity Gaming Academy. Sponsored by LEGO® brands. Alongside Enthusiast Gaming, Paragon developed, scripted, produced, edited and delivered this complex and entertaining series over 8 weeks.

Call of Duty League: The Barracks

“The Barracks” is the penultimate “inside baseball” COD esports podcast on air now. With a solid 40 minute run time this 10 episode series delves deep into the vanguard esport of Call of Duty during the CDL’s inaugural year by pairing COD veteran “Teep” with the best players and coaches in the world for intimate, and dare I say it, viral segments. ALL PRODUCED REMOTELY DURING THE COVID-19 CRISIS OF 2020.

Toyota 2020 Corolla

Blizzard’s Overwatch League hired us to develop, and execute on 2 separate projects for the 2020 Toyota Corolla; five broadcast commercial spots to air on ABC and ESPN, and ten episodes of a “Comedian’s in Cars Getting Coffee” type branded content staring the players and on air talent.

Hearthstone Championship Tours 2015-2018

Spanning 3 weeks each month for 5 months, the Hearthstone Championship Tour saddled Paragon with the task of creating over 90 media pieces that needed to be shot, edited and delivered to the live broadcast each week (sometimes within 1 day.) We were also responsible for producing and directing over 300 hours of live broadcast over the course 5 months. Moving into the 2018 season, Paragon was awarded the entire HCT production. All equipment and infrastructure, producing, media, and event management.

Gears of War 4 Launch

On October 5th 2016 Microsoft Studios launched Gears of War 4, the long awaited sequel to their hit series with a HUGE live event that included a 3 hour broadcast, launch party, onsite art show, developer interviews, game demos, exposition matches, influencer and traditional talent activations — all airing internationally across dozens of platforms: IGN, YouTube, Facebook Live, etc.
